The Sycamore Tree Catholic Retreat Center has operated simply and quietly for over 40 years with the constant prayers, willing work, and faithful support of a small group of people who believe in the mission of our apostolate. The dedicated and largely volunteer-staff joyfully serve all guests with hospitality and in any way that can to assist them in their search God. While the retreat house is an institution of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Helena, it is almost totally self-supporting by the contributions of benefactors, retreatants and volunteer labor.

We ♥ Volunteers!

From our beginning, volunteers have been indispensable to the continuation of the of The Sycamore Tree apostolate. We could not do without them! Our day-to-day operations are carried out by a small staff and a dedicated group of volunteers who believe in our mission. It takes many talents and a bit of sweat to keep a retreat house and its grounds going, so we have a lot of volunteer options available for anyone who may want to pitch in. Volunteers may come to work individually or with groups. And we are also most happy to barter personal retreats in exchange for volunteer labor which benefits both our volunteers and the retreat house. Volunteers can choose from a number of options that fits their skills and schedules best:

Cleaning retreat cabins

Housekeeping in community building

Laundry

Altar linens

Cooking or assisting with meals

Decorating and undecorating for Christmas

Office/computer work

Landscaping & lawn care

Gardening/weeding

Painting projects

Snow removal (by snowblower or by hand!)

Minor building repair

Wood cutting

General maintenance
